Howie Cheney Joins Ampersand As COO
Ampersand, Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Howie Cheney to the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO). Howie’s strong background in operations management comes from serving in a variety of technical, management and C-level positions at several Massachusetts companies over the past twenty-five years. Prior to joining Ampersand, Howie was CIO and VP of Information Technology for Sterling Autobody, a nationwide chain of auto-body shops owned by AllState.
Ampersand CEO Steve Smith remarks, “Howie and I have known and respected each other for a long time. We first met when Howie was Director of Professional Services at Mercury Computer Systems, which was a customer of Ampersand. We worked quite closely with him and his group for several years, providing real-time embedded systems solutions for Mercury’s customers. After he left, we kept in touch and I watched his career take off in the call center business. Sometimes we engaged him for technical support on specific call center projects. Even during periods that we were not actively working together, we often compared notes on technology and trends, and I continued to be impressed by him. We have a great working relationship. “
“Howie has an exceptionally relevant business background that will greatly benefit Ampersand in the coming years, including domain expertise in call center industries, C-level management of technical functions, and significant intrapreneurial success. I look forward to watching him drive Ampersand to launch additional product offerings, build the customer base, and grow our operation.”
Howie Cheney says, “I’ve always admired Ampersand’s high-end engineering expertise and the company’s commitment to serving their customers and clients in a highly professional and responsible manner. Ampersand has been at the forefront of large-scale VoIP enterprise implementations for well over a decade, and I think the company has a winning product formula in place. I’m excited and looking forward to getting to work to help grow this business.”
